Stop emailing 20MB PDFs as attachments. The client portal is the right place for any document the customer needs.
Share a single file
- Open the client portal page → "Files" tab.
- Drag-drop or click "Add file" — pick from your computer or from a linked Drive folder.
- Optionally write a one-line note ("v2 of the brand audit deck — ready for review").
- The client gets a notification (configurable per file: email, in-portal-only, or silent).
Share a folder
For ongoing engagements with many files, share an entire Drive folder. Any file you add later is automatically available to the client — no need to re-share.
Permissions
Files default to "view + download." Toggle "Editable" if the client should be able to comment or upload revisions. Toggle "Watermark" for sensitive content (each download stamps the viewer's name + date).
Revoke access
Removing a file from the portal hides it from the client immediately. Their browser can still access cached versions for ~24 hours, so for legally-sensitive content, also revoke the underlying Drive share.
Tips
- Use clear filenames. "Acme-brand-audit-v2-final.pdf" beats "audit_2.pdf" — clients lose track of unnamed files.
- Keep "in-progress" drafts off the portal until they're ready for review. Sharing too early invites premature feedback.
